How to Make 2019 The Best Year of Your Life!
It’s that time of year again! As we enter a new year, it's a great time to reflect on all that has happened the past year - what we did or didn’t accomplish, and what our hopes are for the new year.
For some, it is a time of stress and regret, and for others, it may be joy and a sense of achievement. For me, I like to think it’s a little bit of both! However you define 2018 for yourself, use the following 5 questions to help you reflect on the year passing, and make the most out of 2019!
1. Think Positive - What were the highlights of 2018 for me?
Take a moment to remember your greatest moments of 2018. Maybe it’s a big event, like having your first child or pursuing your passion - or maybe it’s a simple moment shared with a loved one. Whatever your highlights are, enjoy the fond memories you have of the year.
2. Express Gratitude - What about 2018 am I most grateful for?
Asking ourselves what we’re grateful for is so important in our daily lives, as well as when reflecting on our past. While part of me thinks “2018 was so challenging and I really struggled with a lot”, the things I am grateful for this year are innumerable.
3. Have a Vision - How do I want to evolve & grow in 2019?
This is personally something I could write about for ages. There are a lot of aspects of myself I want to improve on but often forget in my daily life. It’s important to have them written down to reference and practice implementing in the year to come.
4. Have a Plan - What areas in my life do I want to focus on?
I recommend mind-mapping! Or essentially, dividing your “life” into categories and subcategories, so you can map out all of your priorities, delete whatever isn’t important, and focus on the rest! (Ex. Studies, Income, Family, Deen, Writing, etc.).
5. Set Goals - What are my goals in those areas?
Think big and create a list of SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely) goals. You'll have to write them down on a piece of paper and the best time to start working on them is NOW! Be consistent even if it means less at a time. Consistency is key!
Now go out and do everything in your power to make 2019 your greatest year yet! Always try your best, but remember, even though we plan, Allah (swt) is the best of planners. So have faith along the way and start making moves now! This article was written by Karsen Breanne, a regular contributor for Voile Chic Inc. Karsen is a Norwegian sister living in London.
